Rev. James W. Clem, Sr. of Coalgood, Ky went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning of March 9, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Jimmy was born at Mary Helen, KY to the late Chester and Edith Honeycutt Clem. He was retired from the CAA as a transportation person. He was of the Baptist faith and had ministered well over 30 years in the area. He was currently the Pastor at Black Mountain Baptist Church and had served for over 18 years. He had served previously at Coxton Baptist Church for 12 years and Adamant Baptist Church in Pennington Gap, VA for 2 years. He had been a Member and Past Master of Harlan Lodge 879 F & AM for over 40 years, he also belonged to the York Rite bodies. He was an avid walker, ginseng hunter, but most importantly he loved his family especially his granddaughters.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wheeler & Rose Clem; grandson, Emerson James Clem; brother, Chester Clem; mother in law, Barbara Whitaker; brother in law, Jack Whitaker.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kimberly Whitaker Clem; sons, James W. Clem, Jr and Dustin (Heather) Clem; papaw's girls, Reagan, Lakynn, and Emeralin Clem; brothers, Roger (Tina) Clem, Gary (Connie) Clem, and Butchie (Faith) Clem; nieces and nephews, Pam & Phillip Coker and kids, Hunter & Cassidy, Travis & Tiffany Clem, Megan & Steven Lee and child, Arwen LeMaster, Zachary Clem, Katherine Clem, Ben Clem, Steven Whitaker, Chris & Laura Whitaker and kids, Waylon & Morgan, Loni and Jason Taylor and kids, Jace and Jayden, T.J. Whitaker, Jordan Turner, Alisha & Mark Adams and kids, Jaxon Robinson and Xander Adams, Josh Whitaker, Allen Whitaker and kids, Adalynn, Emilee, & Logan, Jacob & Kortney Whitaker, Colton & Toni Whitaker; in laws, Hope Clem, Susan Turner, Tom & Marcella Whitaker, Ralph & Kathy Whitaker, and Frances Whitaker; special friends, Ed Lyttle and Ken Jones;  special grand dogs "Jack & Bella". He leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation is 6:00 pm 8:00 pm Thursday (March 11) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday (March 12) in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev.. Chad Napier and Bro. Ed Lyttle officiating. ( For those who cannot attend, funeral services will be recorded and posted to this obituary.)
Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, Ky with Nephews serving as Pallbearers.
Covid-19 Restrictions of 60% of our capacity, face masks, and social distancing all set by the Governor of Kentucky shall be followed.
