Melissa Blanton

Melissa Ann Blanton, 38 of Coldiron passed away on Monday afternoon of September 30, 2019 at the Harlan ARH following a brief illness.

Melissa was born December 23, 1980 to Levi and Luwonna Stephens Burkhart. She was a 1999 graduate of James A. Cawood High School, homemaker and attended the Laymon Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Marion and Allie Stephens, Bentley and Tishie Burkhart; father in law, Howard Jack Blanton.

Besides her parents she is survived by her husband, Jimmy Blanton; sisters, Jessica (David) Johnson and Wendy (Paul) Felkner; special cousins, Bethany Johnson, Matt Brock, Bobbie Joe Maggard, Diane Collett, Diana Saylor, and Adam “Greenbay” Brewer; 4 nieces & nephews, Aaron & Oliva Johnson, Austin & Alli Blanton; several step nieces, nephews; mother in law, Mary (Tommy) Thompson; several aunts, uncles, including a special aunt, Peggy Causey; special family members, Marcella and James Chadwick.

Visitation will be Wednesday (Oct. 2) from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday (Oct. 3) in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. John Neal officiating.

Burial will follow in the Laymon Cemetery at Coldiron, KY.
