James Burkhart

James Greene Burkhart, 87 of Wallins passed away on Friday morning of March 4, 2022 at the Harlan ARH.
Jim was born October 1, 1934 in Wallins, KY to the late Stephen Byrd Burkhart, Sr and Serena Lucretian Long Burkhart. He was a 1952 graduate of Wallins High School; he then attended Union College on a track scholarship where he recieved his Masters-Rank 1.He was retired school teacher having taught for 31 years with the Harlan Co. Board of Education. He has served as the Pastor of the Ages Baptist Church for 30 years.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings, Lorene Burkhart, Alene Burkhart, Ralph Clayton Burkhart, Hurston Clarke Burkhart, Mary Rose Burkhart, and Ruth Annette Burkhart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Franks Burkhart; 2 sons, James G. Burkhart, Jr and Russell (Amy) Burkhart; 1 granddaughter, Isabella Kate Burkhart; 1 brother, Stephen Byrd (Marie) Burkhart. He  leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday (March 6) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm Monday (March 7) at the Saylor Cemetery at Pathfork, KY with Rev. Freeman Clark officiating.
