Elizabeth "Betty" Arnold

Elizabeth “Betty” Miniard Arnold, 100 of Kingpsort, TN formerly of Loyall passed away Wednesday evening of January 1, 2020 at the Elmcroft Assisted Living of Kingsport.

Awaiting her arrival were her parents, Benjamin and Florance Asher Miniard; her thirteen brothers and sisters, Flora, Doshia, Ethel, Normas, Felix George (F.G.) Alice, Mossie, Alafair, Israel John (I.J.) Nancy, Lucy, Bradley and Lola as well as her beloved husband of 42 years Jack H. Arnold.

Left behind to love and miss her is her daughter, Becky Arnold, grandson, Luke Gonzalez-Barillas, several nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

She became a licensed cosmetologist and worked for her sister Alafair in Harlan, KY. After meeting and marrying Jack they relocated to Kingsport, TN where she had a home salon. In 1962 she moved to VA and opened Betty’s Beauty Shop. She retired at 90 years young.

Elizabeth loved to spend time with her family and loved ones in KY and traveling to family reunions with her sisters, Alice and Alafair. She was able to travel to Scotland, England, Hawaii, Colorado, Texas, Indiana, NYC, New England, and Florida through the years. She also enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, growing flowers and bird watching.

Visitation will be Monday (Jan. 6) from 11:00 am – 11:30 am at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home, 114 S. 3rd Street, Harlan, KY 40831.

Graveside services will follow at 12:00 pm Monday (Jan. 6) at the Resthaven Cemetery in Keith, KY with Pastor Deric Jeffers officiating.

A special thank you to the staff at Elmcroft Assisted Living, Kingsport, TN, Nova Health and Rehab of Weber City, VA, and Ballad Hospice of Kingsport, TN for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Disabled Veteran’s organizations, your local animal shelter, or one’s favorite charity in honor of Elizabeth “Betty” Arnold.
