Carlene (Napier) Thompson

  Carlene Napier Thompson, 91 of Rio Vista passed away on Friday evening of February 24, 2023 at her home.
  Carlene was born October 27, 1931 in Loyall, KY to the late  Blackburn and Mary Napier. She was a lifelong member of the Loyall Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School and VBS and served as treasurer of Sunday School and Ladies Aid. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who enjoyed life's simple pleasures. Following the death of her husband, Buddy, in 1965, she worked as the secretary for Harlan High School until her retirement in 1997. After retiring she served as a volunteer at Christ's Hands for several years.
   In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Rufus, Robert, Jack, and Clark Napier; her sister in law, who was like a sister to her, Joyce Napier.
   She is survived by her daughters, Mona Hutchison and Mary Beth (Jeff) Till; grandson, Brett Till; nephews, Jeff Napier and Burney Napier, niece, Margaret Wheeler; lifelong friend, Bobbye Lou Helton; and her beloved church family and friends. 
   In keeping with her wishes a Graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Monday (Feb. 27) at the Resthaven Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Scott Hyden officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Buddy.
