Willa Jean Giles

Willa Jean Giles of Harlan passed away Thursday August 31, 2017 at the Harlan ARH surrounded by her loving family.

Willa Jean was born in Harlan Co., KY to the late James S. and Thelma Adams Rickett. She was the former President of Giles Moving & Storage Co, member of the Women of the Moose in Stuart, FL, life member of the Beta Sigma Phi, and a avid reader. She attended the Harlan Church of Christ and Harlan United Methodist Church. Most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Carl Ed Giles; children, James E. (Jean) Giles, and Katrenia J. (Charles M.) Taylor; grandchildren, Kristen (Scott) Talley, Matthew C. (Hope) Taylor, and Kimberly (Brandon) Evans; great grandchildren, Natalee, Caroline, and McKinley Taylor, Kayla, Olivia, and Catherine Talley; special friends, Jack Lundy, Jean Smith, Margaret Brock; sister-in-law, Janet (Carl) Gilliam; special in laws, Dick (Carolyn) Edwards and Judy (Bob) Rhea; and her dog, Jake.

The family will receive friends, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Sunday (Sept. 3) at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday (Sept. 4) in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Dale Shackleford and Rev. Steven Riddle officiating.

Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY.

Pallbearers will be Jack Lundy, Jerry Phillips, J.J. Joseph, Eugene Douglass, David M. Anderson, and Richard Farmer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Howard, Mike Howard, Rev. Randy Hoskins, Bud Dixon, Pete Vowell, Dan Wilson, and the men of the Harlan United Methodist Church.

Flowers are welcomed, but memorials are suggested to the Gideons International, Harlan Camp, PO Box 1115, Harlan, KY 40831 or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 in Memory of Mrs. Giles.
