Walter Whitehead, Sr.

Walter Lee Whitehead Sr. age 82 of Girdler KY went home to be with the Lord on March 27, 2026 at St. Joseph Hospital in London Ky.

He was born on February 06, 1944 in Harlan KY to the late George Whitehead Sr and Dora Caldwell Whitehead.

Walter was a retired lumber inspector. He was an avid fox hunter. He owned and operated Whitehead Fox Pen for over 35 years. He enjoyed good singing and attending church. He was a member at Hughes Hill Holiness Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents. His wife of 53 years Loretta whitehead. His son Walter Whitehead Jr., daughter Vernann whitehead and granddaughter Anessya Rochelle Whitehead. Brothers: George Jr, Hobart, Billy, Willard, Lonnie Whitehead. Sisters: Fearn, Bonnie, Cindy, Jewell Whitehead.

Walter is survived by his son John (Brooke) Whitehead, London KY. A special niece who was more like his daughter Cindy Whitehead- Caldwell (Ralph), Stoney Fork KY. Grandchildren: Travis Whitehead, Corbin KY, Taylor Hamblin (Andrew) of London KY, Ashlyn Nolan (Brad) of London KY, Morgan Poore (Nathan) of London KY, Macy Whitehead of Lexington KY, Lauren MacDonald of Florida. Great-grandchildren: Dawson Whitehead, Bentlee Whitehead, Kinley Noe, Karleigh Whitehead, Bailee Hamblin, Presley Whitehead, Hudson Nolan, Gunnar Garrison, Parker Nolan. Daughter-in-law Elzie Sue Whitehead of Manchester KY. Special friend and hunting buddy for many years Dennis (Red Man) Yonts.

And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Walter Lee Whitehead Sr. will be held at the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home on Friday April 3, 2026 from 6p.m. - 9p.m.

Funeral services for Walter Lee Whitehead Sr. will be 12 noon Saturday April 4, 2026 with Rev. Tom Elliott, Rev. Ted Eversole, and Rev. Tommy Frasier officiating. He will be laid to rest at Napier Family Cemetery in Bledsoe KY.
