Vickie Helvey
March 14, 1952 — July 5, 2017
Vickie Short Helvey, 65 of Browning Acres passed away Wednesday Morning of July 5, 2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center following a long illness.
Vickie was born March 14, 1952 in Harlan to Virgil and Billie Hinkle Short. She graduated from Cawood High School and went on to obtain her education Degree at Cumberland College then a Masters Degree from Eastern Kentucky University. She taught school with the Harlan County Board of Education for several years. She believed in the Baptist Faith.
She is preceded in death by her father, Virgil Short and an infant son, Stephen Short Helvey.
She is survived by her loving and devoted mother, Billie Hinkle Short; her son Alan Helvey; grandchildren, Andrew and Kierstyn Helvey; father of her children, Andy Helvey; brother, Gary (Diana) Short; uncle, P.I. Hinkle; nephew, niece, and great niece also survive.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday (July 8) at the Resthaven Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Josh Haywood officiating.
The family request memorials be made to Christ Hand’s of Harlan, 112 Railroad St. Harlan, KY 40831 in memory of Vickie.
