Vandetta Jackson
June 20, 1952 — February 6, 2017
Vandetta Irene Jackson, age 64, of Indian Mound, Tennessee, and formerly of Harlan County, departed this life surrounded by family and friends on Monday, February 6, 2017 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on June 20, 1952 to the late Thelma Irene and A. D. Saylor.
Irene spent many wonderful years in Harlan raising her children before eventually moving to western Tennessee. Irene was a nurse by profession and her caring nature carried over into all aspects of her life. On April 14, 2015, she united in marriage to Darris Jackson. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is so very loved by so many and will be deeply missed.
Other than her mother and father, Irene was preceded in death by a brother Walter (Joe) North.
She is survived by her loving husband, Darris Jackson of Indian Mound, TN. Her two children: James Napier and wife, Tammy and Larkin Napier and wife, Connie all of New Tazwell, TN. Her two grandchildren: Kayla Fortenberry and Tyler Napier also of New Tazwell, TN. Her sisters and brothers: Nona Angus and husband, Roger of Dover, TN., Rosemary Saylor of Rosspoint, Arizona Duncan and husband, William (JuneBug) of Wallins, Henry (Mike) Saylor and wife, Ellen of Harlan, Perry (Pete) Saylor and wife, Darlene of Molus, Lewis (Louie) Saylor and wife, Kathy of Chatsworth, GA., William (Cotton) North and wife, Joan of Miaracle, Leonard (Bull) North and wife, Carma of Thornhill, TN. She also leaves behind dear friends Margaret Wooten and Rose Merriwether.
The Jackson family will receive friends after 6:00 P.M. Friday at the Hopper Funeral Home, and after 9:00 A.M. on Saturday and until the hour of service.
Funeral Services for Vandetta Irene Saylor Jackson will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery at Harrogate, TN. Those serving as Pallbearers will be: James Napier, Larkin Napier, Tyler Napier, Roger Angus, James Smallwood, Sanford Abner, Jim Miles and John McVey.
Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be all friends and neighbors.
