Vance Stewart
November 3, 1935 — January 3, 2015
HARLAN-Vance Leon Stewart, 79 of 423 East Mound St. passed away Saturday Jan. 3, 2015 at the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN.
Vance was born Nov. 3, 1935 in Muhlenberg Co., KY to the late Thomas and Margaret Sorrells Stewart. He was a retired Mechanic with LG & E after 44 years of service in Louisville. After retirement he and Reba moved back to Harlan in 2006. In his retirement he loved to garden and believed in the Baptist faith. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during Vietnam War.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Kenny and Orville Stewart; sisters, Betty Bailey and Addie Logan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Reba Gail Warren Stewart of Harlan; children, Kerry (Melinda) Stewart of Louisville and Lisa Bailey of Indiana; 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; brother, Tommy (Pauline) Stewart of Pineville; brother-in-law, Herman (Vesta) Warren of Mary Alice; Several nieces, nephews, including Kristy Warren, Shannon Middleton, Alice Warren, and Matthew Warren; his beloved dog, Kaity and Cat Jake.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 from 5 until 7:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Brock officiating.
Military Rites will be observed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
Burial will be private.
