Thelma Turner

Thelma Ann Turner, 71 of Harlan passed away Thursday morning of Aug. 8, 2013 at the Harlan ARH.

Thelma was born July 11, 1942 in Teetersville, KY to the late Robert Lee and Ruby Branson Moore. She worked from 1975 to 1994 for the Harlan Co. Board of Education having worked at Cawood, Hall and Cranks Elementary Schools. She was a former member of the Friendship Baptist Church of Cawood.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her siblings, Jerry Wayne, Carlos Dale, Oren Jack, Jennie Lee, and Leonard Walter.

She is survived by her loving husband, Melvin Turner of Harlan; her children, Charles Melvin (Natalie) Turner, Robert John (Georgette) Turner, Kimberly Anne (Todd) Tinnell, Tommy Wayne (Anna) Turner; 7 grandchildren; her brother and sisters, Harry Vernon (Faye) Moore, Bernice Gail (Winston) Owens, Reynold (Ann) Moore, Henry Eugene (Wanda) Moore, Robert Dallas (Mildred) Moore; she leaves several nieces, nephews other relatives to mourn her passing.

Visitation is 6-8:00 pm Saturday Aug. 10, 2013 at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 8:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday Aug. 11, 2013 at the Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to one’s favorite charity in memory of Thelma.
