Stephanna Cawood Figgis

Stephanna Cawood Figgis, 68, of Richmond, KY and born in Harlan, passed away after a short illness on September 10, 2023.  She was the daughter of Billy Joe and Billie Jean Cawood (both deceased) of Harlan and the grand-daughter of James S. and Veda Cawood, Ky.

She is survived by her husband, Pete Figgis, a native of Maui, Hi, her only brother, JC Cawood (Debbie) of Harlan, many cousins, and a niece and nephew.

Stephanna (Stephie) grew up in Harlan and attended Harlan Independent Schools most of her academic life.  She was a devoted Green Dragon all her life and was eager to participate in hometown activities while staying in touch with friends and family through Facebook and online games.

Stephie graduated with the Class of 1973 from Harlan High School and relocated to Maui, Hi, where she ventured into retail sales of her jewelry creations for many years.  She and Pete met and married in  and lived in Maui’s tropical paradise for many years until she returned to Kentucky several years ago to care for her mother.  Since Pete’s retirement and settling in Kentucky, they have enjoyed their passion for live music and traveling the states with their five dogs.

Visitation will be Friday, September 22, from 12 to 2:00 pm at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home, 114 S. 3rd Street, Harlan, KY 40831. Scattering of ashes will immediately follow at the Cawood family Cemetery in Cawood, Ky.
