Shirley Ann Howard

Shirley Ann Howard, 85, of Grays Knob, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 23, 2026 at her home.

Shirley was born on November 11, 1940; she was a native and lifelong resident of Harlan County. She was a homemaker, Loving Wife, Mother of her Children, Grand Children, and Great Grand Children.

She was a member of Cornerstone Community Church in Baxter.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Byrd and Effie Hall Smith, her husband of 59 years, Edward Lee Howard, three brothers, Leroy, Johnny, and Alonzo (L.B.) Smith, and two sisters, Kila Irvin, and Helen Bennett.

Survivors include, one son, Rusty Lee Howard, two daughters, Kim North, and Karen Howard. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Raychel North (Layne Nicely) Rebekah Anglian (D.J.) and Dustin North (Annie) and also seven great grandchildren, Riley, Reed, and Rhett Anglian, Easton and Ellie Nicely, and Benjamin and Levi North which was her heart and soul. Also surviving is two sisters, Colleen Smith, Henrietta (Bootsie) Inman and one brother, Danny Smith. Also surviving is a host of nieces and nephews along with several other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Wednesday (Jan. 28) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Britt Lawson III, Rev. Jeff Mills, and Brother D.J. Anglian officiating.

Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Keith, Ky.
