Shirley A. Craig, 85 of Cumberland went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday afternoon of January 7, 2024 at the Pikeville Medical Center.Shirley was born August 24, 1938 at Verda, KY to the late Walter and Ruth Purciful. She was a member of the Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for several years and was an active member of the Woman's Missionary Union. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary 5171. She served as a President for several years, also served as 14th District President and as Kentucky State President. At the time, she was the youngest person to ever serve as a state president for the VFW Auxiliary.Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her Husband, Willie "Bill" Craig; sons, Billy Jo, Jim and Glen Craig; sisters, Katie Yates, Jean Kielec; son-in-law, Tom Jones, grandson, Brian Shoemaker; best friend, Marylou Yaden.She is survived by children, Bryce (Kerri) Fields of Salem, OR, Myrtle Jones of Hazard, Walter L. (Barbara) Craig of Cumberland; daughter in law, Nadine Craig of Waco, KY; Sisters, Doris Boshaw of Springfield, OR, Mary (Jay) Wells of Savannah, GA Sandra (Dan) Houle of Waterford, MI, Sue (Bud) Reas of Borden, IN, Jackie (Rick) Reas of Borden, IN, Betty Rianvanchin of St. James City, FL; brother, Michael (Larilee) Purciful of Ohio; sister in law, Zella Purciful of Lousivlle, KY.Grandchildren are, Rane Fields, Rhiannon Fields, Amber McMullen, Amy Shoemaker, Tina Montgomery, Susan Cope, Joel Craig, Jimmie Lynn Jones, Thomas Jones, James Edward Craig, Sheila Bailey, Richard Criag, Stacy Salyers, Walter Lee Craig, II, Judy Bailey, Lara Garland; Six nephews, two special nieces, Jamie Marlow and Paula Swann; 30 great grandchildren and a host of great great grandchildren; special friend, Marilyn Hubbard.Visitation will be Friday (Jan. 12) 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church with funeral to follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Dennis Williams officiating and Dr. Bruce Ayers giving a eulogy.Burial will be Saturday (Jan. 13) 11:00 AM at the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KYPallbearers will Rane Fields, Thomas Jones, Walter L.
