Sherry Harrison

May 3, 1939 — September 17, 2016

Sherry Skidmore Harrison, 77 of Jeffersonville, KY formerly of Loyall, KY died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Saint Joseph Hospital East in Lexington.  She was born, Wednesday, May 3, 1939 daughter of the Late Reese and Martha Howard Skidmore.  She was a 1956 graduate of the Loyall High School and a past president of the Alumni Association.  She had served as a council member of the City of Loyall.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She served as an advocate for the handicapped in Kentucky and Tennessee.

In addition to her parent she was preceded in death by husband James (Dikie) Harrison; daughter, Julia Ann Meade; granddaughter Hope Meade; brothers, Roger Skidmore and Jerry Skidmore; and good friend Bob Goforth.

Surviving are children, Sally (Scot) Blanton and Mary Dixon of Mt. Sterling, KY; seven grandchildren, Kenny (Alex) Pennington of Harlan, Caitlyn (Jake) Sokoll of Pikeville, Glenn Dixon of Mt. Sterling, Hannah Blanton of Lexington, Tucker Blanton of Lexington, Sam and Randall Meade of Harlan; close friend and caregiver, Linda Carpenter.

“And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment  greater than these” Mark 12:31~ Help a neighbor – help a stranger, help someone in need.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home.  Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 PM with Rev. Kyle Burnette officiate.  Sherry will be cremated with her ashes to be interred with her husband at Resthaven Cemetery.
