Sherman Peck, Jr, 78 of Keith, KY passed away Saturday evening of August 16, 2025 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center with family holding his hand.
Junior was born September 19, 1946 at Keith, KY to the late Sherman Peck, Sr and Myrtle Shoemaker Peck, the baby of five siblings. He enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he served his country honorably. After he returned home he married the love of his life, Joyce Gooden Peck, with whom he had two wonderful sons, Shawn and Shane.
Sherman entered welding and electrical school thru the GI Bill, and entered the workforce in the mining industry, however, the conditions of his lungs prevented him from continuing this occupation. He began working at the Resthaven Cemetery as a grave digger and worked his way up to running the crew for several years before retiring.
Junior, as he was known to many, was a people person. he loved to carry on with everyone he knew, he could aggravate with the best of them. He was a big fan of western shows and Fox news. He kept up with everything going on. He could get you so tickled sometimes your belly would hurt from laughing. He loved his family and friends wholeheartedly. He was a genuine, kind but strong and stubborn as they come. He was easy to love and will be extremely missed.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; son, Shane; his mother in law and father in law; brother, Rossy; sisters, Phyllis Duncan and Betty Peck; niece, Cindy Noe; nephew, Chris Duncan; as well as several brother's and sister's in laws.
