Ruby Howard age 94 of LaFollette, passed on to heaven Saturday, August 15, 2015. Member of Caryville First Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husbands Vernon Slagle and Jack Howard, Parents John and Patty Helton, Sisters Edna Howard, Leila Kirby, Ann Scott, Mary Ellen Helton and Delora Hopkins, Brothers Delno, Lawrence, John and Clarence Helton. Special Sisters-in-law: Margie Helton and Vada Unthank, Brother-in:law Bill K. Howard. As a young woman Ruby worked at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. Later in life she worked for the James A. Cawood High School, but most of her life was a homemaker. She loved gardening and flowers, crafts, sewing and reading. She was a devoted Christian, mother and grandmother who dearly loved her family.

Great-Grandchildren: Zachary, Stephanie and Caroline Slagle
Several Nieces & Nephews including Bruce & Pat Howard, Bob & Susan Howard, Edna Shackleford, Connie Harris and Bill Unthank
Sister-in-law: Martha Helton
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jamal Isber and Drs. Irwin, Teague and Delair at LaFollette Medical Center and to the compassionate nursing staff in the hospital and ICU and in Comford Care at LaFollette Health and Rehab and to Dr. David Rankin at U.T. Medical Center for years of Christ centered healthcare.
