Roy Thomas Sanders, 48 of Loyall, KY passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Wednesday afternoon of June 21, 2023 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard following a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer.
Roy was born April 9, 1975 in Harlan to the late Bobby Joe "Red" Sanders and Mildred Brock Sanders. He was a 1994 graduate of James A. Cawood High School, and long before he was even legal to drive, he was learning how to drive Coal Trucks from his father. Roy was a driver for Sanders Trucking, the Bennett Mines and last for Joseph Bennett, but his greatest joy was driving a Church Bus for Grays Knob Church of God where he was a member. When not working he enjoyed fishing and riding 4 - wheelers. He loved living life and going to Church to praise His Lord & Savior.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by grandparents, Roy and Elizabeth Sanders & Jack and Elva Brock; his sister, Jackie Sanders.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Amy Epperson Sanders; his brothers, Bobby Joe (Mistie) Sanders and Chris Sanders; his nieces and nephews, Trey (Jocelyn) Sanders, Amber Sanders, Nicole Blevins, Kelsey (Travis) Helton, Lindsay (Dalton) Baker and Jacob Branson; his father and mother in law, Willie and Marsha Epperson; his sister and brother in law, Joy & Jeff Branson; he leaves a host of other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday (June 23) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home, Harlan.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday (June 24) at the Grays Knob Church of God with Rev. Josh Doyle and Rev. Ronnie Williams officiating.
Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY with Family and friends serving as Pallbearers.
