Robert "Bob" Asher, 82 of Sunshine community of Harlan passed away peacefully on Thursday morning of January 21, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Bob was born July 30, 1938 on Watts Creek, KY to the late Noah and Lola Mae Raines Asher. Lifetime Harlan Countian and he truly loved this little town, he believed in the Baptist faith
He was very active in Clubs and Achievements over his lifetime, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Howard Lodge 819 F & AM, avid gardener – happiest with his feet and hands turning the dirt for another garden, served as Harlan Co. Shrine President proudly for numerous years, Harlan Green Dragon Alumni noted for his football achievements #17, and worked many years a Master of Welding.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step father, Walter Clay Brown; brother, James ”Jim” Bradley Asher; step-brother, Sam Brown wife Nan Brown; his niece, Mary Theresa Asher.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Lee Williams Asher; son, Robert “Robbie” Asher; daughters, Lola Rena Asher of Morehead, KY, Rosetta Denise Asher Abraham husband Stephen Todd Abraham of Harlan, KY. Bobbi Sharese Asher and Hubbie Napier of Harlan, KY; brother, Belve “Bud” Asher wife Willie Mae Asher of Harlan, KY; grandchildren, Master Sergeant Steven Wesley Farley II wife Candace W. Farley of Oklahoma City, OK, Corporal Mitchell Sky Estes (AKA Gomer Pyle) Kaitlin Estes of Morehead, KY, Kayla Dawn Estes of Morehead, KY,Sarah Beth Estes of Morehead, KY, Robert Kent Estes of Morehead, KY; Abbey Brooke Abraham-Fields husband Travis Fields of Georgetown, KY, Benjamin Todd Abraham of Lexington, KY, Adam Lee Abraham of Harlan, KY, Stephanie Charese Arvin husband John Arvin of Harlan, KY, Ashley Nicole Noe husband Alex Noe of Wallins, KY; great-grandchildren, Steven Wesley Farley III, Landon Asher Farley, Ryker Aiden Farley, Oliver Caudill, Elizabeth Hope Estes, Maddox Caine Estes, Raichel Saylor, Gracie Saylor, Chrissy Saylor, Braylee Couch, Carter Arvin, Kaylee Arvin, Mahalen Asher, Allison Noe, Greyson Alexander Reid Noe; numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends, and his beloved pup: Giddy.
Visitation will be 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Saturday (Jan. 23) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Thompson and Rev. Clarence Floyd officiating. Music will be provided by Seth Carmical.
Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, Ky with Masonic Rites being observed by Howard Lodge 819 F & AM.
Pallbearers' will be Robert “Robbie” Asher, Mitchell Sky Estes, Robert Kent Estes, Adam Lee Abraham, Stephen Todd Abraham, Travis Fields.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Master Sergeant Steven Wesley Farley II, Benjamin Todd Abraham.
The family has asked that everyone attending services please wear a facial covering.
Covid-19 Restrictions of 50% of church capacity, face masks, and social distancing all set by the Governor of Kentucky shall be followed, the family ask that everyone attending please have a face covering on.
