Rachel Rosetta Shepherd

   Rachel Rosetta Shepherd, 71 of Harlan passed away on Sunday morning of July 2, 2023 at the Harlan Health & Rehabilitation Center.
   Rachel was born March 28, 1952 in Harlan to the late Jimmie and Annie Yoney Price. She grew up spending most of her childhood in Cawood, KY. She married and became a mother in 1971 to her only child David. She worked 28 years with the Harlan County School System taking care of Hall Elementary and Hall Junior High before retirement in 2007. Rachel could not sit still, so she babysat for a few years when an opportunity to work at the Harlan Public Library came along. She was thrilled to have been chosen to work at the Library. She took care of the children's area and loved to be around the little ones. Grandma Rachel, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, loved to work, even when on vacation visiting her son in Alabama. In her later years, she enjoyed walking with friends, antiquing, and shopping yard sales. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Pansy Baptist Church. 
    She is survived by her son, David (Patreana) Shepherd of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, David A. Shepherd of Birmingham, AL, Camille Shepherd of Atlanta, GA and Scott Shepherd of Birmingham, AL; brothers, Jimmy Ray (Karen) Price of Comins, MI, Don (Charlotte) Price of Flowery Branch, GA, and Henry (Janet) Price of Cawood, KY; sisters, Shirley Pyecroft of London, KY, Mary Price of Cawood, KY, and Lois (Roy) Kilgore also of Cawood, KY; she leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives to mourn her passing. 
    Visitation will be 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday (July 6) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home. 
    Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Rouse officiating. Music in will be provided by Mrs. Lawana Blevins.
    Burial will be 10:00 am Friday (July 7) at the Resthaven Cemetery in Keith, KY with family and friends serving as Pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the Funeral Home by 9:30 to go in procession to the cemetery.
