Phyllis Mitchell Gross

Phyllis Drew Mitchell Gross, 80 of Harlan, Kentucky passed away at her home on Friday, June 27, 2025.

Phyllis was born on July 30, 1944 in Harlan, Kentucky to the late Steve and Blanche Copeland Mitchell. She was a lifelong resident of Harlan County and believed in the Baptist faith. Phyllis was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending her time bird watching and spoiling her grandkids.

Besides her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Gross, her brother, Eugene Mitchell, and her sister-in-laws, Gloria and Janice Mitchell.

She is survived by her children; Lisa (Kevin) Sizemore, Brad (Jennifer) Brock, Brian (Patty) Brock, and Melissa Gross, her grandkids; Ashley Sizemore, Jacob Sizemore, Mallory Sizemore, Joshua Sizemore, Miranda Brock, Andrew Brock, and Autumn Brock, her brothers; John L. (Coretta) Mitchell, Jim Mitchell, and Steve (Ella) Mitchell "Junior", her sisters, Juanita (Harold) Brown and Kila (Jerry) Viox, and a special friend, Beth Stallard. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be on Tuesday (July 1) from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow on Tuesday (July 1) at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Adkisson officiating.

Private burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
