Percy Edwin Brown, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went home to be with his Lord & Savior on July 4, 2026 at the Hazard ARH, at the age of 89.
Born on October 22,1937 in East Bernstadt, Kentucky. Percy lived a life marked by kindness, hard work, and devotion to God, his faith was a foundation for him and he passed that on to all of his children and anyone who he knew. He spent many years in as a meat cutter and then as a photographer, where he earned the respect of employees and friends through his integrity and dedication. Outside of work, Percy was a Mason and was a member of Nolan Lodge 806 F & AM and Past Grand Master of the State of Kentucky in 2003-2004. He found great joy in spending time with his family, and lodge brothers.
Percy is survived by daughter Danese Brown Christmas, daughters in law Debbie Brown and Rosemary Brown, 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents William Taylor and Nancy Brown, brothers Eugene Brown and Glenn Brown, his beloved wife Freddie Barber Brown, sons David Edwin Brown and Darrell Lee Brown, daughter Donna Brown Gilstrap and grandson Joe Christmas. His family will forever cherish the memories they shared and the love he gave so freely. His legacy of compassion, strength, and unwavering love will continue to live on through all who knew him.
Visitation will be 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Thursday July 9, 2026 at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home, 114 S. 3rd Street, Harlan, KY.
Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Christmas officiating. Masonic Rites will be observed by Nolan Lodge 806 F & AM following the funeral.
Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery at Bledsoe, KY where he will be laid to rest beside of his beloved wife.
Pallbearers will be Jon Brown, Chris Brown, Stephen Brown, Austin Rafferty, Jackson Gilstrap and Father Austin Gilstrap.
Percy Edwin Brown will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
