Paul Williams

April 22, 1933 — September 12, 2014

Paul Francis Williams, age 81, passed away at his home on September 12, 2014 after a short illness.  He was born April 22, 1933, in Evarts, Kentucky to Walker and Grace Williams. He attended Evarts High School and graduated in 1951. After graduating he served in the Air Force for four years. He then graduated from The University of Kentucky with a degree in Public Health.  He worked for the Harlan County Health Department and The Harlan County School System before he became the Circuit Court Clerk in 1976, a position he held until his death.  He will always be remembered as your friend in the court house.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walker and Grace Williams of Evarts, two sisters, Emma Wallace and Mildred Thompson, two brothers, Earl Williams and Jack Williams and nephew, Richard Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Peirce Williams, daughter Rebecca Williams, daughter Jennifer Smallwood and special son in law, Danny Smallwood, his grandson, William Peirce Smallwood, granddaughter, Mackenzie Paige Smallwood, sister Pauline Ellis and sister Mable Husky, nephews: Danny Kay Ellis (Maria), Tom Williams (Henrietta), John Williams (Sherry), Steve Thompson, Victor Thompson (Susie) and Mike Huskey,
David Carmical (Debra), Lee Carmical, Bill Carmical and Bruce Buttermore (Debbie),
nieces: Carla Michelena (Rick), and Gloria Leonard(Clarence), Marybeth Carter . sister and brother in laws: Virginia and Willard Carmical, and Betty and Dalton Buttermore.

Visitation will be Sunday September 14, 2014 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Private graveside services will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Resthaven Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Don Deaton, Ken Moody, Kent Hendrickson, Jeff Brock, Larry “Bun” Grubbs, Roy Dan Jackson, Fred Busroe, Russell Alred, Lee Daniels, Gary Bolin, Parker Boggs, Jim Laws and James Mosely.

The Employees of the Harlan County Circuit Clerk’s office will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Harlan Co. Humane Society , in memory of Paul.
