Patricia R. Lay

   Patricia R. Lay, 65 of Verda passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family following a brief illness.
   Pat was born June 22, 1957 in Harlan, KY. She was retired from the Harlan Daily Enterprise after 28 years of service. 18 of those years she served as Publisher of Harlan, Middlesboro and the Claiborne Progress. She was a member at Verda First Baptist Church.
   She was preceded in death by her mother, Wanda J. Gross; her father, Cecil Gross; 2 grand daughters, Ava and Audrey O'Dell; and her brother, Verden Perkins.
   She is survived by her beloved husband, Eddie Lay of Verda, in July they would have been married 43 years; her children, Nicole O'Dell of Strawberry Plains, TN and her son, Justin (Ann) Lay of Loyall, KY; her grandchildren, Alexis Noe and Emma O'Dell; sisters, Lura "Dit" Adams of Verda and Teresa (Rondall) Middleton of Evarts, KY; brother, Greg Perkins of Tazewell, TN; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including a special friend, Brenda Metcalf are left to mourn her passing. 
   In keeping with Pat's wishes a private graveside service will be held at the Evarts Memorial Gardens on Sunday, June 18, 2023 with Rev. Danny McCreary officiating. 
   Flowers are welcome, but memorials are suggested to the Verda First Baptist Church, PO Box 774 Evarts, KY 40828 in memory of Pat.
