Opal Mae Smith

Opal Mae Smith, 79 of Coalgood, KY passed away peacefully on Saturday morning of August 2, 2025 at the home of her son in Loyall, KY.

Opal was born December 19, 1945 in Harlan Co to the late Tom and Lura Raines McKinney. She was retired from the Boardroom Restaurant and Servco where she was well known for her cooking. She attended Lenarue Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the piano.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Smith; brothers, Roy and Bob McKinney; sisters, Oneida Spurlock; brother in law, Charles Spurlock, Jr.

She is survived by her son Barry L. (Kim) Anderkin; grandchildren, Logan Anderkin and Ryan McFall; sisters, Brenda (Bill) Middleton and Joni McKinney; she leaves a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives to mourn his passing.

Visitation is 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Tuesday (Aug. 5) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 7:00 pm.

Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday (Aug. 6) at the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY.
