Noah Surgener

January 16, 1928 — December 7, 2016

Noah “Pappy” Surgener, 88 of Cranks passed away Wednesday Dec. 7, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Noah was born January 16, 1928 in Cranks, KY to the late Steve Surgener and Polly Hall Day.

A lifelong resident of Cranks he was a faithful member of the Middlefield Holiness Church, he and his faithful wife attended Church’s every chance they could. For 23 years he was the Owner/Operator of Surgener’s Garage, it was after that he began his career in the Coal industry by starting Surgener’s Coal Sales and retired as the Owner/Operator of Poor Man Trucking Co.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, John Day; son, Raymond Surgener; sisters, Lydia Surgener, Rebecca Simpson, and Louanna Napier; brothers, John Henry Surgener, and Hiram Day.

He leaves his beloved wife of 66 years, Eula Mitchell Surgener; children, Janice (Ernie) Owens, Lonnie (Vickie) Surgener, Roger Surgener and fiancée, Lexie Madon, Janie (Rick) Torstrick; 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; Special thanks to Mountain Heritage Hospice, especially Jim Garrett; he also leaves a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be Saturday (Dec. 10) 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm (Dec. 11) in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Bro. James Fee and Bro. Perry Long officiating.

Burial will follow in the Surgener’s Amazing Grace Cemetery at Cranks, KY.
