Morris Deaton

Morris Edward Deaton, 81 of Sunshine passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday February 7, 2023 at the Harlan ARH.
Morris was born January 25, 1942 to the late Barney and Virginia Rains Deaton. He was the current Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Harlan, a position he had held since the passing of his brother Donald in 2015. Morris enjoyed fishing, hunting and believed in the Pentecostal faith.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Hensley Deaton; brother, Donald Deaton; and niece, Vickie Deaton.
He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Deaton Phililps of Sunshine; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Marlin Owens, Leslie Marlin, Barney Deaton, Donald Deaton, Jr, Ashley Whiteman, Melissa Jenkins and Heather Leavell; sister-in-laws, Jan Hensley-Gibson of Lexington; Deborah Cummongs of Cincinnati; Pat Junkins and husband  Joe, of Nortport, Alabama; he leaves a  host of great nieces, nephews, special caregivers, Gail, Cobrianna and Sandy to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday (Feb. 9) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Nick Noe officiating.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Friday (Feb. 10) at the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery pavilion just prior to service time.
Pallbearers will be Matt Taylor, Josh Hensley, Eddie Fee, Michael Smith, Steve Risner and Tony Arwood. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bud Asher, Curtis Browning and Otis Doan.
