Mavis Caldwell, 84 of Rio Vista passed away on Wednesday afternoon of July 16, 2025 at the Harlan Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mavis was born June 22, 1941 to the late Omega Caldwell Gross. She was a woman of faith, she enjoyed quilting and her diet cokes with no ice.
Besides her mother, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Simpson; her second husband, Cecil Caldwell; her daughter, Helen Sue Huddleston and her husband, Roger Huddleston; great granddaughter, Amelia Kate Jones; brothers, J.C, Marlie, Darrell, Homer Sullivan and Glenn Gross; sisters, Gail Greene, Ruth Baker and Glenda Ball.
She is survived by children, Henrietta (Benny) Turner of Bledsoe, Walter Keith Simpson (Joseph Stehman) of Maine and Henry (Dawn) Simpson of Bledsoe; sisters, Reva Farley, Freda Williams and Janice Middleton; grandchildren, Amanda (TJ) Shelburne of Pennington Gap, Virginia, Benjamin Turner of Williamstown, KY, Lisa (Rusty) Cook of Lafollette, TN, Carla (Nathan) Ditty of Michigan; Jayden, Chase and Cadence Stehman; great grandchildren, Dakoda (Jimmy Douglas) Cook, Kara, Liam and Trey Cook, Nathan and Jude Ditty, Nathan, Bentleigh, Maisyn, Sutton and Silas Shelburne; 1 great great grandson, Lawson Douglas; she leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Saturday (July 19) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm Saturday (July 19) in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with her Grandson Benjamin Turner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Geotz & Brown Family Cemetery at Watts Creek, KY where family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
