Mary Evelyn Rains, 95 of Harlan passed away Friday, July 24, 2026 at the Harlan Health & Rehabilitation Center.

   Evelyn was born January 24, 1931 at Coalgood, KY to the late Eulis and Martha Caddell Hubbard. Along with her husband Ronald, they were the retired owners of the Lee Drug Co. in Harlan for many years. She was of the Baptist faith and very active member until her health kept her from attending the Harlan Baptist Church.

   Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Rains; her daughter, Rhonda Johnson; her sisters, Helen Holloway and Jenny Martin; half sister, Mildred Burkhart; her brother, Howard Hubbard.

   She is survived by her son, Gary (Rose) Rains; grandson, Matthew Johnson; her niece and nephew, Kate Adkins and Bo Martin.

   Visitation will be 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm Thursday (July 30) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home, 114 South 3rd Street, Harlan, KY 40831.

   Memorial services will follow at 6:00 pm Thursday (July 30) in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Haywood officiating. Music will be provided by Terry Harris.

   Private burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Williamsburg, KY.
