Jerry T. McClure, 83, of Georgetown passed away on Friday afternoon of November 21 2025.
He was born on November 22nd, 1941, in Frankfort to the late Henry Thomas McClure and Marguerite Cubertson McClure. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He also served as a firefighter and paramedic for 29 and a half years. He also worked as a school bus driver for 16 years, at Alliance Insurance Agency, and an umpire and referee for various sports for 30 years. He was the Chief of the Shawnee Indian Tribe for 30 years and a Native American storyteller for the Richmond Powwow during those years.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Johnnie Burkhart McClure; three children; one brother; numerous grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. Beside his parents, he is preceded by his father and mother in law, Dr. John and Kathleen Burkhart.
A graveside service will be 11:00 am Tuesday (Nov. 25) at Resthaven Cemetery Chapel at Keith, KY with John Curtis Dyer speaking. Military Rites will be observed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery.
