Janice Rae Mitchell

Janice Rae Mitchell, age 83 of Morristown, passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

She was a faithful Christian; and a longtime member of Morristown Church of Christ. A veteran of the United States Air Force, she proudly served her country. As a member of the local community, she lovingly volunteered to help others wherever possible. Most of all, she will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother & grandmother; and beloved friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Mitchell; her parents, Robert & Maudie Boyd; siblings, James Boyd & Margie Ladehoff. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her three children, Dennis (Melissa) Mitchell, Sharyl (Mike Skidmore) Tollin, & Robert (Patricia) Mitchell; grandchildren, Melissa (Cody) Suggs; Alex Adams, Geena (Andy Fetzer) Mitchell, Ginger (Sean) Robitaille; great-grandchildren, River, Harper, Hazel, & Barrett; nephew & nieces, Gary, Cindy, & Debbie; a host of in-laws in Kentucky; dear friend, Dolores; her church family; and many other friends.

Minister Blaine Kelly will officiate over a 6PM funeral service to be held Friday, November 3, 2023 at Mayes Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 4PM to 6PM prior to the service.

Burial will take place at 12 Noon Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Resthaven Cemetery of Harlan Kentucky. Military Rites will be observed by the Harlan Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may also be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the charity of your choice.
