James Foley Smallwood, Sr

   James Foley Smallwood, Sr., 73 of Baxter, Kentucky passed away Wednesday evening, April 30, 2025 at Harlan ARH.

   James was born in Loyall, Kentucky on June 6, 1951 to the late William and Martha Cornett Smallwood. He was a self employed carpenter and troop leader for the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed fishing and wood working.

   Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Cora Smallwood, and his siblings, William Smallwood, Ewing Smallwood, Debbie Cooley, and Rose Stanton.

   He is survived by his children, Foley (Kristy) Smallwood, Jr., Marcie (Brandon) Middleton, and Pamela Smallwood, his grandchildren, Patrick (Jamie) Smallwood, Hunter Smallwood, Morgan (Kendan) Angel, Kyle (Allison) Middleton, Abagail Middleton, and Riley Middleton, his great-grandchildren, River Smallwood, Ford Smallwood, Cash Smallwood, Reid Middleton, and Ellie Middleton, his sisters, Lucille Derk, Cinda Proffitt, and Mary Daniel. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

   Visitation will be Monday (May 5) from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

   Funeral services will follow on Monday (May 5) at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Bro. Trey Harper and Bro. Jerry Gibson officiating.

   Burial will follow the funeral service on Monday (May 5) at the Smallwood Cemetery in Watts Creek, Kentucky with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
