James W. Miracle, 87 of Harlan, KY died Monday, July 28 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY.   He was the son of the late Jim and Gladys Miracle.

James was a Marine serving in World War II; he was a retired central office foreman with AT&T; a member of the Harlan Baptist Church; a Kentucky Colonel; a former Sunday School Superintendant with the Calvary Baptist Church; a member of the VFW; and a former Scout Master.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Jerry Miracle; brothers, Edd (Una) Miracle and Cecil (Anna) Miracle; and his sister Roxie (Bob) Myers.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Opal Miracle; two sons, Stephen (Patti) Miracle and Mark (Lorie) Miracle; two grandsons, Adam Miracle and Daniel Miracle; one granddaughter, Jamison Miracle; and one great-granddaughter, Callie Creech.  Also surviving are special friend, Duke Bowers; brother-in-law, Bill Bostic; sisters-in-law, Louise Walters, Edna Creech, Edwina Clawson, and Norma Clawson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be conducted following the visitation at 1:00 also in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home.  The Reverends Arnold Martin and Brandon Pugh will be officiating the services.

Interment will follow the funeral in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, Kentucky.   Adam Miracle, Daniel Miracle, Jay Phillips, Jeff Phillips, John Myers, and Denver Pollitte will serve as pallbearers.  Harry Creech and the members of the Harlan Baptist Church Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers.
