Irene Lee, Age 86 passed away peacefully into everlasting life on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, following a rapid decline in health. Irene was born on December 18, 1928 in Rose Hill, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Morgan and Carrie Hensley. She married J.R. Lee in 1947 and on June 30th, they had celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her children were her greatest love and most cherished accomplishment in her life. Her grandchildren ‘hung the moon.’ Her great-grandchildren were the twinkle in her eye. She will always be remembered for her kind loving heart and never asking anything for herself but always giving to others. Irene is survived by her loving husband J.R. and their two sons Gary Lee (Jennifer) and Terry Lee (wife Wanda). Her grandchildren Rodney Lee (wife Shannon), Carabeth Robbins (husband Bryan), and Wesley Lee. Her great-grandchildren Bennett Lee, Brodie Lee, Morgan Robbins, Elijah Lee and Maggie Robbins. Also surviving is her sister Lorene Trent of Rose Hill, Virginia and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly. She was a lifelong member of Rose Dale Baptist Church of Rose Hill, Virginia and a member of the Rose Hill Rebekah Lodge #88. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 25, 2015 from 5 o’clock PM to 7 o’clock PM at Green Hills Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 7 o’clock PM with Reverend John Zion officiating. Graveside Service will be conducted Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 11 o’clock AM in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Pallbearers: Rodney Lee, Wesley Lee, Bennett Lee, Bryan Robbins, Jason Goforth and Phil Mirand. Green Hills Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
