Helen Blanton

March 18, 1926 — April 29, 2017

Helen K. Blanton, 91 of Harlan passed away Saturday April 29, 2017 at the Harlan ARH.

Helen was born March 18, 1926 in Harlan to the late John and Winnie Bowling Cottrell. She was retired from Harlan Community TV after 16 years of service. She was a member of the Harlan Baptist Church. She was a Prayer warrior, and devoted Grandmother to her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Blanton; sisters, Mildred McKelvey, and Evelyn Cottrell; son in law, Jerry Russell.

She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Russell, and Judy (Bob) Rhea; a special niece for whom she thought of as a daughter, Donna (Paul) Parsons; grandchildren, Jeff (Beth) Russell, Shane Russell, and Bobby (Brooke) Rhea; great grandchildren, Lindsey Martinez, Ashton Brewer, Karsyn and Kaelyn Rhea; special niece and nephews, Paul Parsons, Greg Parsons, and Danielle Updegraff; she leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be Tuesday (May 2) from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Haywood and Rev. Darryl Washington officiating. Music will be provided by Terry Harris and Vickie Ball.

Graveside Services will be 10:00 am Wednesday (May 3) at the Resthaven Cemetery with Jeff Russell, Shane Russell, Bobby Rhea, Paul Parsons, and Greg Parsons serving as Pallbearers.
