Harry Vernon Moore “Dirty Harry”, 62 of Teetersville, KY left this life on Monday Aug. 18, 2014 at his home following a long illness with family by his side.

Harry was born on Dec. 24, 1951 in Harlan Co., KY to the late Robert (Bob) and Ruby Branson Moore. He was a disabled/retired Coal Truck drive. Besides loving his job, he had a love and calling for helping others. He was a former member of the Harlan Co. Rescue Squad and had served on the Sunshine Volunteer Fire Department as a safety coordinator for many years. He believed in the Christian Faith.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by 4 brothers, Oren Jack (Maxine) Moore, Carolas Dale Moore, Jerry Wayne Moore, and Leonard (Mable) Moore; 2 sisters, Thelma Ann Turner, and Jeanlee (Ken) Millard; father and mother-in-law, Dave and Lydia Johnson; brother and sister-in-laws, David (Peggy) Johnson, Edward Johnson, Alvin Vickers, and Judy Dillman; nephew and nieces, Jim, Debra, and Laura Moore.

Harry is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joyce Faye (Johnson) Moore; 4 children, Brian (Sharon) Johnson, Renea (Jason) Butler, Kim (Robert) Hensley, and James David Shepherd. A special sister-in-law, Patricia Jean Johnson; grandchildren, Adam (Naomi) Johnson, Stephanie Baker, Jonathan Helton Johnson, Cody Maggard, Ashley Johnson, Tyler Maggard, Anna Hensley, and Haydon Butler; 2 great grandchildren, Harley Johnson and Mack Johnson; other children that he considered as his grandchildren, Katelyn Jones, Michael (Bub) Long, Mark and Mercedes Woodard.

He also leaves 3 brothers, R.D. (Mildred) Moore, Henry (Wanda) Moore, and Reynold (Ann) Moore; sister, Gail (Winston) Owens; sister-in-laws, Ellen Vickers, Virginia Johnson and Melinda (Gerald) Smith; brother-in-law, Melvin Turner; many other family and friends to mourn his passing.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday (Aug. 20) from 6 until 9:00 pm and on Thursday (Aug. 21) from 5 until 8:00 pm.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday (Aug. 21) at 8:00 pm in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Spurlock officiating.

In keeping with Harry’s wishes there will be no graveside services.

Members of the Sunshine Fire Department will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
