Harry Jones

July 29, 1923 — December 14, 2016

Harry E. Jones, 93 of Harlan died Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center.  Harry had lived in Florida for over thirty years but had returned to Harlan about eight years ago.  Born in Clairfield, Tennessee on July 29, 1923 he was the son of the late Earl and Myrtle Jones.  Harry worked in the Machine Shop of the Mary Helen Coal Company before moving to Florida where he retired as an installer for Heinmiller Heating and Cooling.  He was a member of Mary Helen United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Faye Jones Brock; brothers, Morton “Chuck” Jones and Earl Jones; and nephew, Mike Brock.

Surviving is his wife of 69 years, Virginia Jones of Harlan; brother, Bucky (Norma) Jones of Harlan; special nieces and nephews, Randy (Terri) Brock and family of Harlan, Phyllis Gray of Corbin, Patrick Sucher of Gainesville, FL, Danny Sucher of Los Angeles, CA, Rick (Cindy) Brock and family of Harlan, Chris (Carolyn) Jones, Patti (Joe Bill) Clark, Becky Jones, Robert (Cathy) Jones, and Carolyn Brock and Family; and Special Friend, Debbie Cole of Sarasota, FL.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Eubanks, Harlan Health and Rehab Center’s caregivers, nurses, and officials for their Christian spirit as they administer to those of us in need.

Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2016 from 12:00-1:00 in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 1:00 in the chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home.  Rev. Steven Riddle and Rev. Josh Haywood will officiate the services.  Music will be provided by Lawana Blevins.

Interment will follow the funeral in the Resthaven Cemetery.  Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
