Harlan Howard

   Harlan Howard, 96, a lifelong resident of Harlan, KY, entered his Heavenly home on Saturday, July 26th at Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center.

   Harlan believed in the Baptist faith. He was a long-time member of Kelly Street Baptist Church and later became a member of Teetersville Baptist Church where he attended for many years. His love for his Savior was evident and well known by all who knew him. During his Christian Walk, he served as Song Leader, Youth Choir Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and a Deacon. Up until April 2025, he was still attending church and teaching Sunday School.

   He was a 1947 graduate of Harlan High School. He was also known through his years as the Superintendent of the Harlan Water Works where he retired after 46 years. If you spent time with him, you quickly learned that he loved the Lord, knew a lot about water, loved fishing, and loved playing his banjo and harmonica.

   He is preceded in death by his parents, Corbin and Stady Howard, his brother, Ralph Howard, and his sister, Wanda (Howard) Williams. Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Betty (Hall) Howard, his second wife, Rose (Nelms) Howard and his daughters, Regina (Howard) Jabado and Sherry (Howard) Stallard.

   Left to mourn his passing but celebrate his life are his grandchildren; Patty (Brian) Brock, Harlan, KY, Eric (Amanda) Stallard, London, KY, Jennifer Stallard, Berea, KY, Mike Jones, Simi Valley, CA. His great-grandchildren; Andrew Brock and Autumn Brock, Lexington, KY, Chyenne (Jalane) Hensley, Delaware, Ethan Stallard, Caden Stallard, Jazzlyn Miles, Colton Miles, and Emmy Stallard, London, KY, and Caiden Sevier, Berea, KY. One great-great grandchild, Baylor Stallard, London, KY. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

   Visitation will be held at Anderson-Laws Jones Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 29th, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm followed by the funeral at 7:00 pm with the Rev. Paul White officiating. 

   Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 30th, at 1:00 pm at the Resthaven Cemetery Chapel Attendees are asked to meet at the cemetery just prior to the service time.
