Georgia Smith

Georgia "Georgie" Smith, 87 of Harlan, KY moved to her heavenly home on Friday afternoon of December 16, 2022 with family by her side.
Georgia was born September 18, 1935 in Closplint, KY to the late Colonel Anderson Short and Minta Kelly Short. Georgia loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus with all her heart. She was a powerful prayer warrior, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying have had on her family, her friends, and her community. Georgia was a member of Chevrolet Baptist Church where she loved to sing about her Savior and her heavenly home.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Rowland "Smokey" Smith; her sisters, Pearly Murphy, Dixie Short; her brothers, Hale Short, Murph Short, Milford Short; daughter in law, Robin Smith; granddaughter, Sarah Jane Smith.
Left to cherish her memory, her loving sons, William Howard Smith of Clinton, TN and Keith (Rita) Smith of Harlan; Grandchildren, Rachel (Ben) Parker of Fairfield, IA, Nora Elizabeth Smith of Chattanooga, TN, Victoria (Jake) Middleton of Evarts, KY, William Andrew Smith of Oak Ridge, TN and Daniel Benjamin Smith of Clinton, TN; great grandchildren, Isabella, Tucker, Lucy Middleton all of Evarts, and Penelope Parker of Fairfield, IA; and a dear friend, Marie Burnette; she leaves a host of family and friends to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm Monday (Dec. 19) at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm Monday in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Huckleby  officiating.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Tuesday (Dec. 20) at the Resthaven Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 am Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Dye and his staff, and the Bluegrass Care Navigators for the love and care shown to Georgia during her illness.
