George "Chick" Stanton

George Hobert “Chick” Stanton, 86 of Cawood passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 after a long illness.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George, Sr and Grace Browning Stanton; 1 brother, James W. Stanton; 4 sisters, Mildred Shackleford, Gertrude Blanton, Bernice Greene, and Mary Baker.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Elsie Stanton of Cawood; 7 children, Donna Bodighimer, Linda (George) Perry all of Warren, MI, Ronnie (Lisa) Stanton of Bee Spring, KY, Raymond Stanton, Clark (Donna) Stanton all of Cawood, Lisa (Allen) Hurst of Harrogate, TN, and Jeffrey (Nina) Stanton of Petersburg, West VA.; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, John (Lisa) Stanton of Petersburg, West VA, Sankie Stanton of Yorkville, IL; 5 sisters, Vera Whitehead and Sandra Simpson both of Harlan, Esther Teilmenn, Georgia Zuckerman, and Ruth Janes all of Lexington, KY, and Helen Gillum of Memphis, TN; he leaves a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be Thursday (July 23) from 5 until 7 at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Franklin Stewart and Rev. Spencer Burkhart officiating.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am Friday (July 24) at the Stanton/Brock Family Cemetery at Crummies.

Pallbearers will be Alex Stanton, Seth Stanton, Jeffrey Stanton, Allen Hurst, Jeffrey Sabins, Ed Brock, and Jerry Brock.
