Ethel Kilgore Roop

Ethel Kilgore Roop, 85 of Pineville formerly of Harlan Co., passed away Friday July 7, 2017 at her residence.

Ethel was born September 4, 1931 in Cawood, KY to the late Taft and Beulah Fields Sergent. She was retired from the Daniel Boone Clinic and was a member of the Cawood Presbyterian Church.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, husband and father of her children, Rodney Kilgore; husband, Harvey Roop; granddaughter, Rebecca Hall; great grandson, Ethan Hall; brother, William Taft Sergent; 2 sisters, Eullah Sergent and Clella Cook.

She is survived by her son, Jeffery (Sarah) Kilgore; daughters, Edna Kilgore and Victoria (Randy) Carnes; grandchildren, Danielle Miller, Ashley Kilgore, Michelle Cope, Tabitha Kilgore, Ryan Kilgore, Bryan (Christie) Faulkner, Jessica Faulkner, Mark (Julie) Ward, and Rachel Wilson; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Willard (Linda) Sergent; sisters, Margaret Sergent and Mary Sue Fox.

Visitation will be Tuesday (July 11) 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Thomas officiating.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am Wednesday (July 12) at the Fields Cemetery in Cawood with Jeffery Kilgore, Ryan Kilgore, Mark Ward, Jr, Mark Patton Ward, Randy Carnes, Willard Sergent, and Bryan Faulkner serving as Pallbearers.

The family wants to give a special thanks to Harlan Health & Rehabilitation Center and Bluegrass Care Navigators  for the care given to their mother.
