David Woodrow Sullivan II, 76 of Loyall, KY passed away on Saturday morning of May 23, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

David was born September 26, 1949 in Corbin, KY to the late David "Tucker" Woodrow and Thelma Engle Sullivan.

David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his military service he dedicated 37 years of working as a railroad engineer while making his home and raising his family in Harlan Co. Above all else, David was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, whose love and generosity left a lasting impact on those closest to him. He will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and remarkable ability to bring joy to those around him. He was a member of the Loyall Methodist Church

Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Brenda Fraley Sullivan; daughter, Aimee (Michael) Pace; son Jeff (Ashley) Sullivan; grandchildren, Laura (Zach) Doss, Tyler (Taylor) Carmical, Mia Claire Pace, Tucker Sullivan, Colt Sullivan and Nate Sullivan; great grandchildren, Henry Doss and Taytum Carmical; sister, Donna Rapier; sister in law, Kathy White; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends whose lives he touched throughout the years.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers, Tiffany Engle and Sonya Parker, as well as the Hospice of the Bluegrass and his nurses, for the love and care shown to David.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday (May 28) at the Loyall Methodist Church with Rev. Arnold Hammons officiating. Music will be provided by Seth Carmical.

Burial will follow at the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY where Military Rites will be observed by the Harlan Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Sullivan, Michael Pace, Tyler Carmical, Zach Doss, Tucker Sullivan, Colt Sullivan, Michael Powell and Ralph Rapier. Honorary Pallbearer will be Nate Sullivan.

Visitation will be after 12:00 Thursday (May 28) until the funeral hour at Loyall Methodist Church.
