Darlene "Granny" Rigney

Darlene “Granny” M. Rigney 86 of Ages, Kentucky died Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.  Born May 30, 1932 in Bardo, Kentucky she was the daughter of the late Charlie Adkins and Dorothy Wilson Johnson.  She was a homemaker who loved to cook, especially her fried chicken and apple stack cake.  She attended the Ages Mountain Assembly Church of God.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Carlos Johnson, Claude Johnson, and Paul Johnson.

Surviving are her children, Jessie (Linda) Rigney, Charlotte (Brady) Wynn, Gail (Mike) Phillips, Jerry (Lynn) Rigney, and Vickie (Arthur) Stewart.  Also surviving are a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and her beloved church family.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Ages Church of God Mountain Assembly.  Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM also in the church.  The Rev. Donnie Harrison will officiate the services.

Interment will be Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the Evarts Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery just prior to the service.
