Chester Wynn Clem, 62 of Coalgood, KY departed this life on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 for his long awaited journey to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Chester was born on March 1, 1958 in Harlan to the late Chester & Edith Honeycutt Clem. He was a retired coal miner and member of the Verda First Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon, song leader, treasurer, prayer warrior, and a dedicated friend to all of the Church youth. He was a 41 year member of Harlan Lodge 879 F & AM, where he served as Past Master and current Treasurer, he was a York Rite Bodies member and Shriner.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his mother in law, Barbara Joan Whitaker.
He is survived by the loves of his life, his wife of 34 years, Hope Whitaker Clem, his daughter and devoted singing partner, Megan Joan Clem LeMaster (Fiancé Steven Lee), his son and constant companion, Zachary Chase Clem, and his granddaughter lovingly known as "Poppy's piggy toesy girl" Arwen Joan LeMaster all of Coalgood, KY; four brothers, James (Kimberly) Clem, Sr, Roger (Tina) Clem of Smith, Gary (Connie) Clem of Coalgood, KY, and Butch (Faith) Clem of Jones Creek; faithful friend, Pastor Danny McCreary and family, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, his beloved church family, and his faithful dog "Max".
Visitation will be 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm Friday (Nov. 20) at the Verda First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm at the Church with Rev. Danny McCreary and Steve Duff officiating. Music will be provided by his brothers and the church youth, Chester mentored over the years in music ministry. (Funeral services will be able to be heard in your car from the church parking lot by tuning to 100.5).
Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY with nephews serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Verda First Baptist Church. Masonic Rites will be observed by Harlan Lodge 879 F & AM.
Covid-19 Restrictions of 50% of our capacity, face masks, and social distancing all set by the Governor of Kentucky shall be followed.
The family does ask that a face covering of some kind be worn during all services.
