Carolyn Hensley

April 25, 1944 — November 18, 2016

Carolyn Shoope Hensley, 72 of Harlan passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 at her home.

Carolyn was born April 25, 1944 to the late Aaron and Eva Howard Shoope. She was a member of the Harlan Christian Church where she worked as the church secretary for 10 years, after that she worked for the United States Post Office for 19 years primarily as a clerk in Cumberland, KY. Once she retired she spent her free time knitting and crocheting hats, scarfs, lap blankets that she donated to cancer patients within her community and residents of the nursing home.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Wayne C. Hensley of Harlan; daughters, Deborah L. (Jon) Hall of Viper, and Donna C. (Dennis) Hudson of Hazard; grandchildren, Kathleen Hudson, Brittany Watson, Jason Hall, Matthew Hudson, and Aaron Hudson; her brothers, Aaron (Gail) Shoope of Georgetown, KY, Howard (Janie) Shoope of Baxter, David (Debby) Shoope of Williamsburg, KY; she leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Monday (Nov. 21) in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Morris officiating.

Visitation will be Monday (Nov. 21) from 5:00 pm until the funeral hour at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday (Nov. 22) at the Resthaven Cemetery at Keith, KY.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Hudson, Matthew Hudson, Jason Hall, Ronnie Shoope, Michael Shoope, and Jon Hall.

Flowers are welcomed, but the family suggest memorials be made to Hospice of Bluegrass – Mountain Heritage, 2972 S. US Highway 25 E, Barbourville, KY 40906 in memory of  Carolyn.
