Caitlin Marie Cooper

Caitlin Marie Sowards Cooper, 27 of Cawood, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Harlan ARH.

Caitlin was born on February 18, 1998 in Harlan, Kentucky to Elmer and Marie Miller Sowards. She was a former employee of the Harlan County Detention Center. Caitlin enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, and singing.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents; Priscilla and Don Sowards, and Charles and Paola Miller, her great-grandma, Myrtle Brewer, her uncles, Charlie Miller and James Miller, and her aunt, Pam Griffith.

Caitlin is survived by her parents, Elmer and Marie Miller Sowards of Wallins, Kentucky, her husband, Michael Cooper of Cawood, Kentucky, her sister, Christa Sowards and fiance, Dalton Shepherd of Wallins, Kentucky, her aunts and uncles; Donny (Margaret) Sowards of Wallins, Kentucky, Michael (Lisa) Sowards of London, Kentucky, Wilder (Debbie) Miller of Gulston, Kentucky, William (Brenda) Miller of Evarts, Kentucky, Evelyn McKenny (Dan) of Evarts, Kentucky, Melissa Simpson of Virginia, and Elvis (Joyce Blanton) Sowards of Wallins, Kentucky, her cousins; Paige (Shawn), Elli, Donnie (Miranda), Lena (Tim), Amanda (Jerry), Cody (Jennifer), Derrick (Kayla), Brittany, Cara (Tyler), Elizabeth, Sandra, Chrissy, Cathy, James Miller, Jr., Dina (Jay) Bland of Evarts, Kentucky and Joe Sowards of Wallins, Kentucky, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Grant and Melissa Cooper of Loyall, Kentucky, her sister-in-law, Katie (Scottie) Pace of Cawood, Kentucky, her aunt-in-laws, Mandy and Peggy Brewer, and her uncle-in-law, Robert Brewer of Cawood, Kentucky. She also leaves behind a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be on Wednesday (May 21) from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be on Thursday (May 22) at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Williams officiating.

Burial will follow the funeral services on Thursday (May 22) at the Resthaven Cemetery in Keith, Kentucky. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Cooper, Grant Cooper, Jared Ellison, Donnie Hensley, Scottie Pace, and Dalton Shepherd.
