Birdie Lee Hensley, 72 of Wallins, KY passed away early Tuesday morning of August 22, 2023 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard.
Birdie was born July 16, 1951 in Harlan to the late Marion and Ruth Branam Honeycutt. She was a retired Nurse Aide from the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her sons, Shelby Dean Calton and Moss Charles Hensley; brothers, Charlie Honeycutt and Clarky Wayne Honeycutt.
She is survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Hensley of Wallins; children, Francis Calton (Brandon Millis, David (Francis) Calton all of Wallins,, Melissa Brock of Jefferson City, TN, James (Ashley) Honeycutt who was her nephew, but was raised like a son, Lorinda (Ron) Posey of Evarts, Albert (Paige) Aure of Bean Station, TN; daughter in law, Sherri Calton of Harlan; 1 brother, Marion Honeycutt of Loyall; sister, Stella (Gary) Callahan and Mary (Jimmy) Callahan of Kitts, KY Florence (Scott) Harris of Barbourville, KY; 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; she leaves a host of nieces nephews other relatives to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Thursday (Aug. 24) at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday (Aug. 25) in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Vannatter officiating.
Burial will follow in the Park Howard Cemetery at Wallins, KY with family and friends serving as Pallbearers.
