Betty Pope

Betty Pope, 88 of Cawood passed away at the Lee Regional Medical Center, Pennington Gap, VA following a brief illness.

Mrs. Pope was born May 2, 1924 at Threepoint, KY to the late Mark and Brunetta Massingill Hatmaker. She was a homemaker and member of The Bible Church, Grays Knob.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Willard Pope and 12 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by 3 loving children, Don C. Pope of Pennington Gap, VA, Ann (Jim) Orcutt of Lexington, KY, and Beth (Johnny) Creech of Baxter; 5 grandchildren, Rebecca Edwards, Lee Ann Street, James and David Wagers, and Jonathan Creech; 3 great grandchildren, Caitlyn and Courtney Cox, and Izabella Wagers; she leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends including a special friend, Caroline Spurlock of Middlesboro, KY.

Visitation will be Tuesday April 30, 2013 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pope Cemetery at Cawood.

Pallbearers will be the men of The Bible Church, Grays Knob.
