Bethany Dawn Smith Maggard

   Bethany Dawn Smith Maggard, 50 of Harlan passed away on Saturday afternoon of July 29, 2023 at the Harlan ARH.
   Bethany was born May 24, 1973 in Harlan to Kaye Powers Smith and the late Bill Smith. She was a 1991 Graduate of Harlan High School, member of the Harlan Musettes, and had worked as a Respiratory Therapist for over 20 years. She was saved as a little girl at Sunshine Baptist Church. 
   Besides her dad, she is preceded in death by her brother, Jason Smith; grandparents, Leonard and Betty Powers; George & Theo Smith.
   She is survived by her husband, George Maggard; son, Jacob Maggard; mother, Kaye P. Smith; dear cousins, Jennifer Miller King (Beth's special adopted sister), Jeff Miller, Tim Browning,, Sherry Browning and Shannon Browning; special family, Patty and Larry Miller; special friends, Martha Dotson, Leslie Shepherd, Julie Smith Curosh, Melissa Gross, Missy Holbrook Witt, Micole Vaughn, Tammie Clem Ausmus, a host of other family friends and her classmates 
   In keeping with Beth's wishes she will be cremated and A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00 pm Saturday (Aug. 5) with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 2:00 pm all in the Chapel of the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Pastor John Carter officiating. The family ask everyone who has one to wear their "Team Bethany Shirts" No one in this family fights alone.
   The comfort of having a friend maybe taken away, but not that of having had one.
    Memorials are suggested to the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 763, Harlan, KY to help offset funeral expenses or to ones favorite animal shelter. 
    The family wishes to send a heartfelt THANKS to everyone for all the prayers. They appreciate everything and everyone that has done for Bethany in these last 2 1/2 months of her illness.
