Belve "Bud" Asher, 84 of the Sunshine Community of Harlan, Kentucky passed away suddenly on Sunday morning of May 26, 2024.
Bud was born on October 12, 1939 in Watts Creek, Kentucky to the late Noah Asher and Lola Mae Asher Brown. He was a member of the United States Army, Harlan Lodge 879 F & AM, and Harlan County Shrine Club - Olieka Temple. He was a Harlan High School Green Dragon Football Alumni, graduating with the class of 1958. He was an avid lifelong fisherman. Bud was also an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan!
Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by his step-father, Walter Brown; his brothers, James Bradley Asher and Robert "Bob" Asher.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Asher of Harlan, Kentucky; his daughters, Beverly Asher Bailey of Bristol, Tennessee and Tammy Blanton of Harlan, Kentucky; his son-in-law, Greg Bailey of Bristol, Tennessee; grandchildren, Connor Bailey, Maddie Bailey, and Katie Bailey, all of Bristol, Tennessee; and his great-granddaughter, Hatley Bailey of Bristol, Tennessee. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, close family, and special friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be Wednesday (May 29) at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Nick Noe and Rev. Franklin Stewart officiating. Music will be played by Seth Carmical and Janie Torstrick.
Graveside services will be 12:00 pm Thursday (May 30) at Resthaven Cemetery in Keith, Kentucky where military rites will be observed by the Harlan Honor Guard, and masonic rites will be observed by Harlan Lodge 879 F & AM. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:15 AM to go in funeral procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Bingham, Robbie Asher, Jim Blanton, Todd Blanton, Doug Asher, Jerry Asher, Greg Bailey, and Todd Abraham. Honorary pallbearer will be Curtis Browning.
